Tetrapeptide-4 (GEPG) contains a Glu-Pro-Gly collagen-like core sequence that mimics the structural repeating units of fibrillar collagens. This signal peptide activates fibroblast-mediated ECM synthesis and promotes tissue remodeling, contributing to improved skin texture, structural integrity, and firmness. The Pro-Gly sequence has high affinity for collagen-binding integrins and cell surface receptors, making it an effective signal for ECM maintenance and repair.

Main characteristics

Tetrapeptide-4‘s collagen-like GPG sequence provides both a structural mimicry function (fitting into collagen receptor binding sites) and a signaling function (activating fibroblast ECM production). This makes it a versatile and mechanistically grounded addition to collagen-supportive formulations. Stable in aqueous solution at pH 5.0–7.5. Compatible with most anti-aging bases.
