Jingzhaotoxin-34 – Ion Channels and Transporters
Jingzhaotoxin-34 is a 35-residue polypeptide from the venom of Chinese tarantula Chilobrachys jingzhao. It was initially reported as a potent and selective blocker of the voltage-gated sodium channel NaV1.7 and a weak blocker of NaV1.3. In collaboration with the ? Institut du Thorax, Nantes ?, we’ve discovered that JzTx-34 is a more potent activator of hNaV1.1. At higher concentrations, it activates hNaV1.3 and hNaV1.6 while blocking hNaV1.2, hNaV1.4, hNaV1.5, hNaV1.7, and hERG channels. Additionally, JzTx-34 inhibits voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels in rat DRG neurons.
