Signal peptide activating Lumican for improved collagen fiber architecture and dermal density
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-9 is a signal peptide that activates Lumican, a small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) that plays a fundamental role in collagen fibril assembly and dermal organization. By stimulating Lumican production, this peptide improves the structural quality of the collagen fiber network, increases dermal density, and reduces the appearance of fine lines. It is especially effective for mature skin formulations where dermal thinning and loss of fibrillar collagen organization are primary concerns.
Main characteristics
Unlike signal peptides that directly stimulate collagen gene expression, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-9 works one step upstream, at the level of collagen fibril organization and crosslinking. Lumican deficiency leads to disorganized collagen fibrils and reduced skin mechanical properties; Dermican® restores this architectural function. Stable at pH 5.0–7.5. Compatible with most anti-aging serum bases. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity (HPLC + MS).
