Acetyl Tetrapeptide-40 is a synthetic anti-inflammatory tetrapeptide that inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory interleukins IL-6 and IL-8 from skin cells, targeting the primary inflammatory mediators responsible for visible redness, erythema, and vascular reactivity. By modulating the inflammatory cascade at the cellular level, it reduces telangiectasia visibility and chronic redness associated with rosacea and couperose conditions. Highly suited for calming serums and formulations targeting reactive and sensitive skin types.
Main characteristics
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-40 acts at the cytokine production level, upstream of the visible inflammatory response. By suppressing both IL-6 (which drives fibroblast MMP production and collagen degradation) and IL-8 (a neutrophil chemoattractant), it addresses both the vascular and structural components of chronic skin inflammation. Stable at pH 4.5–7.5. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity (HPLC + MS).
