Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 / Syn-Coll
Activates TGF-β pathway and collagen production
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (Syn-Coll?) mimics the mechanism of Thrombospondin-1, a matricellular protein that activates latent TGF-β. By triggering TGF-β signaling in fibroblasts, it stimulates the synthesis of Collagen I and III through a pathway distinct from Matrixyl’s matrikine mechanism. This mechanistic complementarity makes Syn-Coll an ideal partner rather than substitute in advanced anti-aging formulations. Clinical data show measurable improvements in skin firmness, wrinkle depth, and collagen density after 4–8 weeks of use.
Main characteristics
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5‘s TGF-β activation represents an upstream approach to collagen synthesis regulation, working at the growth factor level rather than the matrikine level. Combined with Matrixyl (which acts via the matrikine pathway), the two create a multi-mechanism collagen stimulation system. The palmitoyl chain ensures stratum corneum penetration.
