Tyrosinase-inhibiting depigmenting peptide for dark spot reduction and skin tone uniformity
Decapeptide-12 is a 10-amino acid peptide tyrosinase inhibitor that reduces melanin biosynthesis by interfering with the enzymatic activity of tyrosinase, the main enzyme in the melanin production pathway. It provides skin brightening and tone-uniformity benefits as a safe alternative to hydroquinone and kojic acid, without associated cytotoxic risk. It can be combined with Nonapeptide-1 for a dual-mechanism depigmenting approach.
Main characteristics
Decapeptide-12 acts directly on tyrosinase enzymatic activity, reducing the conversion of tyrosine to DOPA and subsequently to melanin, without affecting melanocyte cell viability. This selective mechanism offers excellent safety and tolerability. Stable in aqueous formulations at pH 4.5–7.0. Compatible with vitamin C, niacinamide, and other brightening actives for synergistic effect. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity (HPLC + MS).
